United Way Names Drew And Lynn Marsh As Alexis De Tocqueville Honorees
The United Way of Southeast Louisiana has named Entergy Chair and CEO Drew Marsh and his wife, Lynn, as their 2026 Alexis de Tocqueville Award recipients, recognizing their exceptional community leadership and philanthropic commitment. The annual gala honors individuals whose vision and service help mobilize people and resources to expand opportunities for families across the region.
This year's gala, themed“Power the Next Chapter,” highlighted the Marshes' long-standing commitment to education and literacy. However, they are also strong advocates for programs focused on workforce development, hunger relief, assistance for the unhoused community and emergency assistance - initiatives that drive long-term, measurable change across Southeast Louisiana.
Marsh emphasized the award reflects not only his service but also the commitment of Entergy's 12,000 employees who volunteer, donate and support communities with purpose every day. During the 2025–26 United Way campaign, Marsh served as Campaign Cabinet chair, bringing together business and civic leaders to advance youth opportunity, financial stability and healthy, resilient communities. In 2025 alone, Entergy's employees contributed more than 169,000 volunteer hours, valued at $5.8 million - a reflection of the company's culture of service.
Marsh also reflected on the legacy of former Entergy CEO Wayne Leonard, a past Tocqueville honoree who instilled a deep focus on supporting vulnerable customers. Photographs Leonard hung outside his office decades ago - still displayed today - serve as a reminder of the people behind Entergy's mission.
During the event, Entergy was also presented with the award for most Tocqueville donors among businesses in Southeast Louisiana, accepted by Michelle Delery, Entergy's vice president, corporate internal and external communications and a trustee and executive board member of the United Way.“We are honored to receive this recognition, but this is not the reason we give. We give because we believe in the mission and we deeply care about the people of Southeast Louisiana who we serve,” said Delery.
Featured speaker Vyctoria Estopinal, put a face to the very people positively impacted by contributions to United Way. She delivered a moving testimonial about the life-changing impact United Way has had on her family.
More than 270,000 Entergy customers live at or below the federal poverty level, and nearly half are ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households experiencing financial instability. Marsh noted that addressing these realities remains central to Entergy's long-term community partnerships and charitable investments.
The recognition of Drew and Lynn Marsh ultimately highlights the collective impact made by Entergy's employees - demonstrating that when people work together, they make powerful things possible for the communities they serve.
