Qatar To Announce A New Regional Defence Partnership: Deputy Prime Minister
Doha, Qatar: Qatar will soon announce a new regional defence partnership to strengthen its military capabilities.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, announced this at the eighth Global Security Forum that opened today, October 19, 2026.

“I'm happy to announce today that soon we're going to announce a new partnership,” he said, with regional partners to establish a new defence initiative.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that Qatar had recently reviewed its defence capabilities, prioritising air defence, counter-drone measures, cybersecurity and electronic warfare.
