From Kuwait to MENA, Tap Payments Builds Its Place Among the Region’s Fintech Leaders
(MENAFN- TRACCS) The Kuwaiti-founded payments company climbs 11 places in two years, marking its third consecutive appearance on Forbes Middle East’s Fintech 50.
Kuwait City, 17 October 2026: Founded in Kuwait in 2014, Tap Payments has grown to serve more than 120,000 businesses across MENA with locally built payment infrastructure.
The company ranks 13th in Forbes Middle East’s Fintech 50 for 2026, its third consecutive appearance on the list. Tap ranked 18th in 2025 and 24th in 2024, putting it 11 places higher than in 2024.
Founded by Kuwaiti entrepreneur Ali Abulhasan, Tap Payments set out to make it easier for businesses to accept payments. Its infrastructure connects local payment methods such as Kuwait’s KNET with regional and international payment networks, helping enterprises and smaller businesses accept payments, manage money and operate across markets.
Tap Payments holds licenses and regulatory approvals in all six GCC countries and Egypt. This regional coverage helps businesses work with one payment partner as they enter new markets.
In September 2026, Tap Payments announced a partnership with HSBC Kuwait to support card acceptance for the bank’s business and corporate clients. The service is designed to help finance teams reconcile payments using clearer transaction and settlement information.
Reflecting on the recognition, Ali Abulhasan, Co-Founder and CEO of Tap Payments, said:
“We founded Tap in Kuwait with a clear ambition: to make digital payments simpler for businesses and help them grow. Today, we serve businesses across MENA, supported by locally built infrastructure and strong partnerships with regulators, banks and payment networks across the region. Being recognised by Forbes Middle East for the third consecutive year, and rising to 13th place, reflects the progress our team has made and the role we continue to build in the region’s fintech ecosystem. I’m proud of how far we’ve come and grateful to our team, customers and partners who make this growth possible.”
Tap Payments continues to develop tapOS, its operating system for business payments. It brings billing, payment acceptance, wallet balances, payouts and reporting into one workspace, helping finance and operations teams manage payment activity across brands and markets.
