Baghdad - AstraZeneca Iraq, in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Health's Department of Women's Affairs and Human Rights, has launched SHEvolve, a women's empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening leadership capabilities and professional development among female Ministry employees. The initiative seeks to create meaningful opportunities for women to build confidence, develop essential workplace skills, and take on greater leadership responsibilities, contributing to a more inclusive and resilient healthcare sector in Iraq.

Held on 14–15 October 2026, the initiative featured a series of interactive workshops focused on effective communication, negotiation and persuasion, and successful leadership. The program was designed to equip participants with practical skills to navigate professional challenges, strengthen their leadership potential, and contribute more effectively to the development of Iraq's healthcare sector.

Heba El Shabrawy, HR Director, AstraZeneca Near East & Maghreb, said: "For us, being a great place to work means creating real opportunities for talent to thrive. We are intentional about growing female talent, opening pathways for development, and enabling more women to build meaningful careers and step into leadership. Through women empowerment initiatives such as SHEvolve, AstraZeneca Iraq, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, is capitalizing the capabilities, confidence, and leadership potential of Iraqi women, helping them unlock new opportunities and contribute to shaping the future of healthcare. That is how we strengthen our organization for the future and amplify the impact we can make for patients."

Ayman Rahhal, Country Director Iraq & Libya, AstraZeneca Near East & Maghreb, noted: "At AstraZeneca Iraq, we want talented women to see possibilities for themselves, to grow their capabilities, take on new challenges and build careers that make a difference. Through SHEvolve, we are partnering with the Ministry of Health to support the development of women leaders within the Ministry. The workshops taking place this week reflect our shared commitment to equipping women with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to reach their full potential and contribute to lasting positive change in the healthcare sector. Creating the conditions for more women to thrive and lead strengthens our business, enriches our perspectives, and ultimately helps us deliver greater impact for patients across Iraq."

The SHEvolve initiative reflects the shared commitment of AstraZeneca and the Iraqi Ministry of Health to advancing women's professional development and fostering leadership opportunities within the healthcare sector. By investing in essential skills, confidence, and professional growth, the initiative aims to support an environment where women can realize their potential, contribute to decision-making, and play an active role in shaping the future of healthcare in Iraq.
