Pakistan Security Operations in Balochistan Kill Five
(MENAFN) At least five people, including a Pakistan Army major, were killed during a series of security operations in southwestern Pakistan, the military announced Monday, as violence continues in the resource-rich province of Balochistan.
Four militants died during an operation in Kalat district, while an army major was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Pasni, a town in the strategically important Gwadar district, according to a military statement.
Security forces continue to confront a low-intensity insurgency in Balochistan, a mineral-rich region where armed groups are fighting for the province’s separation from Pakistan.
Pakistan has accused neighboring India and Afghanistan of supporting militant organizations operating in the country. Both governments have rejected the allegations.
