URİKEM Is Bridging The AI Gap For Smes With Industry- And Business-Specific Software

Date:

(MENAFN- B2Press) According to TUIK data, the proportion of companies in Türkiye using AI has nearly tripled in four years. Meanwhile, three-quarters of businesses planning to adopt AI say the biggest obstacle is a lack of expertise. According to Kutlu Altun, General Manager of URİKEM, the solution lies in tailoring software to the daily operations of each industry and business.

ISTANBUL - According to Artificial Intelligence Statistics published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the proportion of enterprises in Türkiye using at least one artificial intelligence technology rose from 2.7% in 2021 to 7.5% in 2025. However, as of 2025, the adoption rate among enterprises with 10–49 employees in Türkiye remained at 6.6%. In comparison, data from the European Union showed that one in five enterprises with 10 or more employees used AI in 2025.

URİKEM, an Istanbul-based software company that develops AI-powered software tailored to the needs of businesses across different industries and improves the efficiency of time-consuming processes in their daily workflows, has taken action to help close this gap.

Lack of Expertise Is a Barrier to Adoption

TUIK data also reveals that a significant proportion of businesses planning to adopt AI are unable to move forward due to a lack of expertise. According to the data, the main barriers to AI adoption among companies are a lack of expertise, cited by 74.2%, and high costs, cited by 67.4%.

Emphasizing that AI models are becoming increasingly diverse and that costs will decline as investment in the field grows, Kutlu Altun, General Manager of URİKEM, said:“Most recently, Anthropic announced its new model, Claude Opus 5.5, which delivers performance comparable to Fable 5.1 at 40% lower cost for most tasks. As the technology scales, access becomes easier, but for many businesses, deciding where to start their AI transformation remains a bigger question mark. The 2026–2030 Türkiye Artificial Intelligence Action Plan also aims to support SMEs in accessing AI solutions. In this context, the importance of partners such as URİKEM, which develop accessible software tailored to specific industries and business processes, continues to grow.”

Corporate Spending on Industry-Specific AI Solutions Is Increasing

Referring to a study conducted in the United States, which found that corporate spending on industry-specific AI solutions increased from $1.2 billion in 2024 to $3.5 billion in 2025, Kutlu Altun said:“During the same period, companies began purchasing 76% of their AI use cases as ready-made solutions rather than developing them in-house. Even companies operating in the same industry can have different ways of working. Therefore, adapting software to day-to-day operations is critically important. General AI tools may improve individual productivity, but they remain insufficient unless they are adapted to workflows and integrated with company processes. We ask our prospective customers to tell us which industry they operate in, which tasks consume their time, and what they want to make easier. Without requiring a technical specification, we use an efficient process to understand their needs, industry, and business, and develop practical solutions.”

Companies Want to Simplify Repetitive Tasks

Noting that details of all the solutions delivered to date are regularly shared on the urikem website, Kutlu Altun said:“We receive many requests for repetitive, labor-intensive tasks such as bulk data entry, creating tables from documents, preparing inventories, tracking supplier correspondence, removing duplicate records, and completing missing files. Companies particularly need support in automating repetitive tasks with the help of AI.”

Reminding readers that URİKEM, which has focused on AI transformation since its establishment in 2023, builds on the expertise of ONAY Mühendislik, a company specializing in chemical regulatory consulting and familiar with regulated industries and field operations, URİKEM General Manager Kutlu Altun concluded:

“We initially developed applications for registration, notification, and tracking processes in the chemical industry. Today, we are adapting our methodology for developing solutions that address specific needs, based on our in-depth industry knowledge, to other sectors. At URİKEM, in addition to customized AI solutions for individual businesses, we also offer ready-made solutions such as websites, appointment systems, AI-powered customer assistants, and report and quotation automation.”
