Participation In EU Security Architecture Also Guarantees Ukraine's Security Mathernová

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“To quote President Costa, who said it repeatedly, one of the best anchoring of security guarantees is to be part of the European Union, be integrated in the EU structures, and be a key part of the future European security architecture,” Mathernová said.

In her view, anyone who follows the news and understands geography can see how important it is for Ukraine and Europe to act in coordination on this issue.

Commenting on the continued full-fledged presence of the EU diplomatic mission in Ukraine, as well as the diplomatic corps of EU member states, Mathernová recalled that the European Union and its member states are“the strongest and most reliable allies of Ukraine” and therefore should demonstrate this through their physical presence in Kyiv.

“I think it would be inconsistent if we are not physically present while Ukrainians are, right? So, it's very simple: we have work to do, and we are doing it from Kyiv and traveling around Ukraine,” Mathernová stressed.

She also welcomed the Verkhovna Rada's progress over the past week in advancing reforms important for European integration and called on lawmakers to remain on this productive path.

“I think that this week was an important step, there were some very sensitive pieces of legislation that got adopted, so my message is: let's keep up the good work,” the diplomat stressed.
