10 Countries Leading Global Travel In 2026

(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Global tourism continues to expand as travelers seek cultural experiences, natural wonders, historic landmarks and modern city attractions. The World Economic Forum's (WEF) 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index ranks 110 economies based on factors that support tourism development, including infrastructure, natural and cultural resources, sustainability and business conditions.

International tourist arrivals reached 1.5 billion in 2025, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 4.4 percent, according to the WEF. Japan leads the 2026 ranking, followed by the United States and Spain. Here are the 10 highest-ranked countries and the experiences that make them stand out:

Japan

Japan tops the ranking after climbing two places. Tokyo attracts visitors with its shopping districts, museums and diverse food scene, while Osaka is known for street food and lively nightlife. Kyoto offers traditional temples, peaceful gardens and historic streets. Mount Fuji remains a major attraction for its dramatic scenery and hiking opportunities.

United States

US ranks second with busy metropolitan centers and vast wildernes

The United States ranks second, offering everything from busy metropolitan centers to vast wilderness areas. New York features Times Square, Central Park and Broadway, while Los Angeles draws visitors with Hollywood and its beaches. The Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park offer spectacular landscapes, wildlife and outdoor adventures.

Spain

Spain comes third, combining architecture, coastlines, food, culture

Spain combines historic architecture, Mediterranean coastlines and vibrant food culture. Barcelona is famous for the Sagrada Família and Antoni Gaudí's architecture, while Madrid offers renowned art museums and lively plazas.
