Europe Must Continue Supporting Ukraine As U.S. Aid Declines Polish Expert
“(Europe) is already shouldering the main financial burden of supporting Ukraine, as the United States has suspended aid and is effectively selling weapons to European countries, which then transfer them to Ukraine. This war concerns the security of the whole of Europe. Therefore, we have no right to give up and allow Putin to seize Ukraine. That would be a catastrophe for all of us,” Koziej stressed.
Commenting on the ability of European partners to provide Ukraine with air defense capabilities, including PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems, he said the situation was difficult due to limited stocks.
“There are few such systems in Europe, while U.S. stocks have been largely depleted. This is the most pressing problem for Ukraine,” the former Head of Poland's National Security Bureau said.
In his view, Ukraine needs to ramp up its domestic production of air defense systems. The expert believes Ukraine will be able to do so faster than European countries can develop the industrial capacity needed to meet Ukraine's needs.
