Quantum Fitness Celebrates 28 Years Of Shaping Sri Lanka's Fitness Landscape

Date:

(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Quantum Fitness is marking its 28th anniversary in Sri Lanka with a basketball challenge offering customers discounts of up to 20 per cent through its showrooms and website, according to the company.

The business traces its beginnings to Quantum Teleshopping in 1998, when it introduced home-fitness products through a sales model then developing in Sri Lanka. It subsequently expanded into supplying equipment for homes, gyms and institutions and developed a showroom network with after-sales support.

The anniversary activity invites customers to test their shooting skills as part of a promotion connecting participation in a sporting challenge with discounts on purchases.

Quantum identifies a 2012 partnership with US-based ICON Health & Fitness as a milestone in its development. The arrangement introduced NordicTrack to Sri Lanka, with Anarkali Akarsha serving as brand ambassador.

The company also describes its support for rural athletes through the Foundation of Goodness. In 2019, it provided Power Plate equipment for a nine-month trial at the foundation's Seenigama facility. Quantum reports donating the equipment permanently in January 2021, with former Sri Lankan cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara accepting the donation.

Alongside equipment sales, the company operates a Customer Engagement Programme focused on helping consumers make fitness choices. Its Quantum Fitness Health Academy offers expert-led webinars on exercise, home workouts, nutrition, sleep and prevention of non-communicable diseases.

Founder and chairman Nomal Wijeyaratne linked the company's future to providing knowledge and guidance alongside equipment. He identified making fitness more accessible and relevant to daily life as priorities.

Quantum also sees scope for developing activities around preventive wellbeing, healthy ageing, workplace wellness and movement for people of different ages and abilities. These areas form part of its stated plans as it marks the anniversary and considers the next stage of its business in Sri Lanka.
