Yemen Army Strikes Houthis in Taiz; Riyadh Airport Toll at 12
(MENAFN) Yemen’s army carried out airstrikes on Houthi positions in the southwestern province of Taiz as fighting intensified across the country.
The army’s Taiz Military Axis said in a statement that the raids hit Houthi positions, troop concentrations and vehicles on the al-Maqrami, al-Jaasha and al-Sallal hills east of Taiz city. It said strikes also hit Hisn al-Mukhaf and the Bala’an area on the Aqrouz front in the province’s south. The statement gave no information on casualties or damage.
In Sanaa, Yemeni media outlets, among them an independent online platform, reported separate strikes in the capital. They did not say who was responsible or whether anyone was hurt or property damaged.
In Saada, a Houthi-run news agency reported six Saudi airstrikes on Majz district and Saada city, along with rocket fire in Sahar district.
Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesperson, vowed to keep attacking Saudi airports despite appeals from the international community and the United Nations to stop. Writing on X, he cautioned airlines, aviation staff and passengers to stay away from Saudi airports and airspace, saying they could become targets.
The warning followed a deadly Houthi strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday that killed 12 people and wounded 309, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The attack came as fighting in Yemen, escalating since July, has spilled across the border into Saudi Arabia.
Yemen has been mired in war since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in September 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in March 2015 to back the Yemeni government.
