UK, Türkiye Strengthen Space Cooperation Through New Partnership

(MENAFN) The UK and Türkiye have significant potential to advance their space capabilities by expanding cooperation, a senior official from the UK Space Agency said during the 77th International Astronautical Congress in Antalya, Türkiye.

“There are many different areas in which we will be much stronger when we work together,” Alice Bunn, co-director of the UK Space Agency, said during the event in the Mediterranean resort city.

Bunn welcomed a new cooperation agreement signed Tuesday between the UK Space Agency and the Turkish Space Agency, describing it as an important step toward closer collaboration.

She said the partnership could cover a wide range of areas, including scientific research, research and development, technology, and the creation of regulations for space missions and activities conducted in orbit.

According to Bunn, the agreement provides a framework for establishing a road map that will guide future cooperation between the two agencies.

British Ambassador to Türkiye Jennifer Elizabeth Anderson also attended the signing ceremony, with Bunn highlighting her participation as a sign of the importance placed on the partnership.

“Science and technology are often used as instruments of cooperation between countries,” she said. “We are excited to see the next steps in our cooperation in science and technology.”
