Italy, Türkiye Expand Cooperation in Space Sector

(MENAFN) Italy’s Ambassador to Ankara Giuseppe Manzo highlighted the close partnership between Italy and Türkiye in the space sector, noting that the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is among the official sponsors of the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC).

"Türkiye and Italy have strong cooperation in space," Manzo told reporters on the sidelines of the congress, organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF).

Manzo cited the GOKTURK-1 project as a notable example of the long-running cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing that both sides view the space sector as a priority.

He also pointed to the participation of Italian and Turkish astronauts in Axiom Mission 3, describing the bilateral partnership as "great" and stressing that the cooperation has continued for years.

The ambassador highlighted the participation of 26 companies at the congress, saying their presence reflects the broad scope of cooperation between Italy and Türkiye and the strong links the two countries have developed in the space sector.

He said advances in space research and industry have a direct impact on people's lives, particularly in areas including health, energy and security.

"So, it's natural for us to be partners," Manzo said.

"Our space agencies, our astronauts, our governments are working together,” he said, adding: “All the components for cooperation are there.”

Manzo also noted the Italian Trade Agency’s role as an official sponsor of the 77th International Astronautical Congress and invited people to attend the event, saying, "Come here and enjoy the space."
