Türkiye Expands Space Partnerships Through New International Agreements
(MENAFN) The Turkish Space Agency has signed two new agreements aimed at expanding international cooperation in space activities with partner countries and organizations.
The agreements were concluded during the opening days of the 77th International Astronautical Congress, IAC 2026, which is being held in the Turkish Mediterranean city of Antalya.
One of the agreements establishes a new framework for cooperation with the space agencies of fellow members of the Organization of Turkic States. The framework builds on existing collaboration under a joint CubeSat initiative coordinated by the organization.
Türkiye, a founding member of the Organization of Turkic States, is seeking to use the existing satellite project as a basis for broader cooperation and future joint space initiatives among participating countries.
The new framework is intended to strengthen coordination in space activities while creating a foundation for additional projects involving research, technology development and satellite missions.
The Turkish Space Agency also signed a declaration of intent with the UK Space Agency to expand cooperation in the space sector.
The agreement with the UK is designed to encourage the development of joint projects and establish additional areas of collaboration between the two agencies.
The agreements were signed during the first two days of IAC 2026, which began Monday and has brought together representatives from space agencies, research institutions, technology companies and other organizations from around the world.
The congress is being held at the NEST Congress Center in Antalya and is organized by the International Astronautical Federation under the coordination of Türkiye’s Ministry of Industry and Technology.
The Turkish Space Agency and SAHA Istanbul are serving as co-hosts of the international gathering, which provides a platform for discussions on space exploration, satellite technologies, scientific research and future international missions.
The new partnerships highlight Türkiye’s efforts to expand its international space network while developing opportunities for joint projects with both regional partners and established space agencies.
The agreements also come as Türkiye continues to strengthen its national space capabilities and pursue greater participation in international space research, satellite development and exploration initiatives.
