FTSE Russell Keeps Türkiye Off Watch List, Status Intact

(MENAFN) FTSE Russell, the index provider owned by the London Stock Exchange, has decided against adding Türkiye to its watch list and will leave the country's "Advanced Emerging Market" status as it is.

The decision came in the firm's "FTSE Classification of Equity Markets – FTSE Equity Country Classification September 2026 Annual Announcement," released late Tuesday. FTSE Russell builds and manages indexes that are widely used across global financial markets.

The announcement addressed the earlier delay to certain index changes for Türkiye at the September 2026 review. It said, “Following the postponement of certain index changes for Türkiye at the September 2026 index review, FTSE Russell continues to engage with Borsa İstanbul and the Capital Markets Board of Türkiye (CMB) which is reviewing the feasibility to improve the granularity underpinning the Central Securities Depositary’s (MKK) published free float figures.”

On the classification itself, the index provider was explicit. "FTSE Russell is not placing Türkiye on the Watch List and its Advanced Emerging market status remains unchange," it added.
