Trump Says He Will Personally Fund Twenty-Million-Dollar TV Campaign

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said Monday that he plans to personally finance a $20 million television advertising campaign promoting what he calls “Patriotic Ads,” following criticism over the use of taxpayer funds to support the initiative.

Trump said the decision came after backlash over government spending on the advertisements, arguing that the use of public money for such campaigns was not unusual. However, he said he had decided to change the funding arrangement and cover the cost himself using money raised for MAGA, Inc.

"The Radical Left is upset with the fact that I am taking Ads, which I consider to be a positive promotion for our Great U.S.A., and paying for them with U.S.A. money," he said on his Truth Social platform.

Trump defended the original use of government funding, saying it was “a rather standard thing to do,” but said he would instead personally finance the campaign.

"This is a rather standard thing to do but, rather than doing that, although nothing will make them happy, I have decided to do the Patriotic Ads, among others, and pay for them myself, and with money I raised for MAGA, Inc," he said.

The $20 million campaign features Trump delivering voiceover messages focused on his political themes, including opposition to socialism and communism as well as efforts to strengthen US manufacturing.

The advertisements portray the United States as confronting political and ideological challenges while highlighting Trump’s administration as seeking to restore domestic industrial production.

One of the commercials uses Trump’s voice to declare that he and his supporters will “liberate America” from political opponents and members of the press.

The funding dispute comes as the administration faces scrutiny over how public resources are being used for messaging and promotional efforts. Trump’s decision to shift the financing of the campaign to privately raised funds is intended to address criticism surrounding the use of taxpayer money.

The advertising effort forms part of Trump’s broader political messaging strategy, emphasizing themes of American nationalism, domestic manufacturing and opposition to ideological movements he associates with his political rivals.
