Armed Attack Kills Iranian Police Officers in Sistan-Baluchestan

(MENAFN) Two Iranian police officers were killed and another was wounded Monday after gunmen attacked a police patrol in southeastern Iran.

The assault occurred in Bampur county in Sistan-Baluchestan province, where officers from the Nukju police station were conducting security duties when their patrol came under fire.

The attackers have not been identified, and no group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.

Sistan-Baluchestan, which shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, has experienced repeated attacks against Iranian security personnel in recent years. Iranian authorities have frequently attributed such violence to armed groups operating in the region.
