Türkiye, France Ink Defense Road Map in Strategic Push
(MENAFN) Türkiye and France have signed a defense cooperation road map, the Turkish National Defense Ministry announced on Saturday, as part of ongoing military cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, the ministry said Director General for Defense and Security Lt. Gen. Ilkay Altindag held a series of meetings with French officials. They included Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces Alice Rufo, the French president's Military Chief of Staff Gen. Vincent Giraud, and Director General for International Relations and Strategy Guillaume Ollagnier.
The talks covered bilateral defense and military ties, strategic dialogue and ways to build on existing cooperation. Both sides also reaffirmed the importance of keeping up regular, results-oriented contacts.
Against that backdrop, the two countries signed the road map. The ministry described the signing as an important step toward deepening defense cooperation between Türkiye and France and strengthening strategic dialogue.
"The signing demonstrates that the mutually positive messages recently conveyed by the leaders of the two countries have translated into a meaningful and concrete step of cooperation in the field of defense," the statement said.
The ministry added: "The road map aims to strengthen strategic dialogue through regular and results-oriented contacts and further advance cooperation based on the mutual benefit of the two countries," it added.
