Germany's NRW Courts Türkiye With 8 Deals at Istanbul Forum

Date:

(MENAFN) A senior German investment official on Wednesday cast the Türkiye-Germany relationship as a living economic partnership, citing a community of more than a million people of Turkish origin in Germany as the foundation for deepening business ties.

Felix Neugart, CEO of the German trade and investment agency NRW.Global Business, made the remarks at the Türkiye-North Rhine-Westphalia Business Forum in Istanbul, co-organized by Türkiye's Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and NRW.Global Business. He described a strong human bridge between the two countries that is visible in investment, manufacturing and innovation.

He argued that no region anywhere matches North Rhine-Westphalia's links to Ankara's economy.

“There is no region in Europe, let me put it like this: there is no region in the world who has closer connections to Türkiye than North Rhine-Westphalia.”

Neugart said the partnership goes beyond trade, resting on companies that jointly invest, manufacture, innovate and create jobs.

"We are linked by long-standing industrial value chains. Türkiye offers dynamism, industrial capacity, and a strategic global connection.

"We bring technological expertise, know-how, and we bring access to the huge European market, and this put together our strengths."

Energy, supply chains, logistics
He said the two countries can jointly advance the energy transition and build more resilient supply chains.

“We can expand the logistics connectivity, and probably most importantly, we can turn innovation into shared business opportunities, and this is exactly what we want to discuss today,” he said.

Pointing to the forum's speeches and panels, Neugart said the signing of several memoranda of understanding sent an important signal of shared determination to turn dialogue into lasting partnerships and concrete projects.

Nail Olpak, chair of DEIK, called North Rhine-Westphalia one of Europe's industrial heartlands and a natural partner for Turkish business. He stressed that Türkiye, backed by a strong manufacturing base, a dynamic private sector and highly competitive companies, is deeply integrated into European and global value chains.

Deals signed
DEIK and NRW.Global Business signed a cooperation agreement at the event. Companies from Türkiye and Germany also signed eight separate business deals.
