Studio Museum In Harlem Showcases Inaugural Artists In Residence

(MENAFN- USA Art News) The Studio Museum in Harlem is currently presenting“A sustained becoming: Studio Museum Artists in Residence 2026,” an exhibition featuring works by its inaugural resident cohort. The show occupies a spacious fourth-floor gallery in the museum's new 82,000-square-foot building in Harlem, with curatorial attention given to allowing each artist's practice ample room.

Among the featured artists is Derriann Pharr, whose paper-based works include“Squinching my eyes shut and wishing real hard (Honey's Dream)” from 2026. This piece depicts a long, animalesque female form, with its raw, frayed edges contrasting the powerful composition within. Pharr's“Bring My Bones Home!” ( 2026 ) features a bulbous female figure tenderly, yet watchfully, coiling around a small creature, protected by prominent, spiky sculptural elements above.

Pharr's creations are exhibited alongside Simonette Quamina's indigo dreamscapes and Taylor Simmons's intimate oil tableaux.
