Yemen Army Claims 414 Attacks on Houthi Targets in 24 Hours
(MENAFN) Yemen's army said it launched 414 attacks on Houthi targets across multiple fronts in the past 24 hours, in a claim announced late Tuesday as fighting with the group continues.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili said the operations struck Houthi reinforcements and military capabilities, according to a statement carried by an official news agency. He said the attacks caused losses among Houthi fighters and equipment but gave no figures.
The Houthis did not immediately respond to the army's claims.
The announcement follows a similar tally on Monday, when the Defense Ministry said government forces carried out 356 operations across 10 fronts, killing or wounding 476 members of the group.
The conflict dates to 2014, when the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 to back Yemen's internationally recognized government.
Fighting has intensified since September. The Houthis have taken control of several key areas in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces, including the strategic city of Mokha, and have reached Mayyun Island, which overlooks the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
