Saudi Civil Defense Announces All-Clear in Najran
(MENAFN) Saudi Civil Defense announced Monday that a temporary danger in the southern Najran region had ended, shortly after issuing a second warning for the area on the same day.
The agency called on residents to continue observing safety measures and avoid gathering in groups or taking photographs at the scene.
Authorities did not specify what caused the alert in Najran, a region bordering Yemen.
Earlier in the day, Civil Defense also lifted warnings in both Najran and nearby Jazan after issuing alerts over potential danger in the two areas.
The developments come as Saudi Arabia has experienced a number of missile and drone attacks attributed to the Houthis in recent days.
On July 20, the Houthis announced a “maritime blockade” targeting Saudi Arabia and later claimed responsibility for missile and drone strikes against vessels and locations linked to the kingdom.
Saudi Arabia has headed a coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government since March 2015 in its conflict with the Houthis, who have maintained control over the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces since September 2014.
