Saudi, US Diplomats Review Maritime Security, Yemen
(MENAFN) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks Monday on bilateral relations, regional developments and maritime security along key international waterways.
The discussions took place during Farhan’s official visit to Washington, with both sides addressing matters of shared concern, according to reports.
The talks "stressed the importance of safeguarding maritime security and freedom of navigation through international waterways, notably the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, to promote regional stability and ensure the flow of global trade," the ministry said.
The officials also reviewed developments in Yemen alongside broader regional issues and Saudi-US relations.
They further called for "supporting diplomatic efforts to address regional crises and promote security, peace and stability," the ministry added.
Saudi Ambassador to the US Princess Reema bint Bandar attended the meeting, along with Saudi Foreign Minister’s adviser on Lebanese affairs Prince Yazid bin Mohammed Al-Farhan and another adviser, Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan.
