SpaceX Sends Massive Starship on First Satellite Mission

(MENAFN) US aerospace company SpaceX launched its giant Starship rocket from Texas on Monday, marking the vehicle’s first mission designed to place satellites into Earth’s orbit.

The launch took place at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in South Texas and represented the 14th flight of the Starship system. Unlike the previous 13 missions, which followed suborbital paths, this flight was planned to reach orbit.

The mission is carrying 26 next-generation Starlink Version 3 satellites, which SpaceX intends to deploy during the flight. The new satellites are designed to increase the capacity of the company’s Starlink satellite internet network.

Starship is SpaceX’s largest rocket and was built for full reusability. The system consists of a first-stage booster known as Super Heavy and an upper-stage spacecraft called Starship.

SpaceX is developing the vehicle to transport satellites and cargo into orbit and eventually carry people, with the system also intended to support future missions to the Moon and Mars.
