Saudi Civil Defense Sounds Second Najran Alert, Then Clears It
(MENAFN) Saudi Civil Defense said Monday that a danger had passed in the southern Najran region, just minutes after the agency issued its second warning there in a single day.
The agency urged residents to keep following safety instructions and to refrain from gathering or taking photographs. It did not identify the nature of the danger in Najran, which borders Yemen.
Earlier in the day, Civil Defense had issued all-clear notices for both Najran and the neighboring Jazan region, shortly after warning of danger in the two areas.
The alerts come as Saudi Arabia faces a series of missile and drone attacks attributed to the Houthis in recent days. On July 20, the group announced a "maritime blockade" on the kingdom, and later claimed missile and drone attacks on Saudi-linked vessels and sites.
Saudi Arabia has led a coalition backing Yemen's internationally recognized government against the Houthis since March 2015. The Houthis have controlled the capital Sanaa and several provinces since September 2014.
