Saudi Arabia Warns Najran Twice in One Day, Then Clears Danger
(MENAFN) Saudi Civil Defense declared the danger over in the southern Najran region on Monday, just minutes after sounding a second warning there in a single day.
The agency urged residents to keep following safety instructions and to avoid crowding together or taking photographs. It gave no indication of what the danger was in Najran, which borders Yemen.
Earlier Monday, Saudi Civil Defense lifted alerts for both Najran and neighboring Jazan, shortly after warning of danger in the two areas.
The episodes follow a run of missile and drone attacks attributed to the Houthis in recent days. On July 20, the group announced a “maritime blockade” on Saudi Arabia, later claiming missile and drone strikes on Saudi-linked vessels and sites.
Saudi Arabia has led a coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognized government against the Houthis since March 2015. The group has held the capital Sanaa and several provinces since September 2014.
