Türkiye Demands International Action Over Al-Aqsa Mosque Storming
(MENAFN) Türkiye on Sunday denounced the entry of Israeli extremist groups into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque, saying the groups were accompanied by Israeli occupation forces and urging the international community to take measures against actions it said violate the site’s established status.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the conduct could contribute to rising tensions in the region and accused the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of undermining efforts aimed at advancing peace and stability through actions involving Muslim holy sites.
"It is clear that the Netanyahu government aims to further fuel tensions in the region and undermine efforts for peace and stability through its violations and provocations targeting Muslim holy sites," said the ministry.
Ankara again called on the international community to adopt deterrent measures in response to Israeli actions that it said breach the historical and legal status governing Al-Aqsa Mosque.
