Türkiye Denounces Al-Aqsa Storming, Urges Action Against Israel
(MENAFN) Türkiye on Sunday issued a sharp rebuke over the storming of Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque, which it attributed to extremist Israeli groups acting under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, and urged the international community to impose deterrent measures on Israel.
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry accused the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately stoking regional tensions. It said the government was using violations and provocations against Muslim holy sites to undercut efforts toward peace and stability.
"It is clear that the Netanyahu government aims to further fuel tensions in the region and undermine efforts for peace and stability through its violations and provocations targeting Muslim holy sites," said the ministry.
Ankara also renewed its appeal for the international community to act against Israeli practices it says violate the historical and legal status of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
