Türkiye's Fidan Joins UN Talks on Gaza Peace Plan Progress
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan took part in high-level talks Wednesday reviewing progress on last year's New York Declaration and the 20-point plan aimed at resolving the Palestinian conflict, Türkiye's Foreign Ministry announced.
The meeting, titled "The Way Forward: One Year After the New York Declaration and the 20-Point Comprehensive Peace Plan," was held on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session in New York, the ministry said in a post on Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
The ministry did not release further details about what was discussed or who else attended.
The gathering marks a one-year checkpoint for two major diplomatic initiatives launched in tandem last September. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution that month endorsing the New York Declaration, which calls for recognition of a Palestinian state and renewed momentum toward a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
That same month, US President Donald Trump unveiled his own 20-point plan, aimed at ending the war in Gaza and laying the groundwork for lasting peace in the region.
