Türkiye Puts Dialogue, Diplomacy at Center of UN General Assembly
(MENAFN) Türkiye placed dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation at the heart of its diplomatic efforts during the UN General Assembly's high-level week in New York, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Saturday.
Speaking after a series of intensive diplomatic engagements, Fidan said he participated in more than 40 bilateral meetings and multilateral events throughout the week, with the situation in Palestine remaining one of the main issues addressed by Türkiye.
"We advocated dialogue over conflict, diplomacy over crises, and cooperation over division," he said, highlighting Ankara's preference for diplomatic efforts to address international and regional challenges.
Fidan said Türkiye raised concerns over Israel's policies in Gaza, as well as its occupation and annexation activities, during all of the meetings attended by the Turkish delegation.
He also pointed to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's latest address to the UN General Assembly, saying the Turkish leader again brought global attention to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
During the high-level week, Erdogan also conducted 16 bilateral meetings, joined a high-level gathering focused on climate action and a just transition, and participated in discussions with US President Donald Trump and leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council on regional developments.
