Türkiye, Pakistan, Egypt Reaffirm Support for Saudi Security
(MENAFN) Türkiye, Pakistan and Egypt have condemned attacks against Saudi Arabia, including those attributed to the Houthis, while reaffirming their "unwavering support" for the kingdom's security and territorial integrity.
The foreign ministers of the three countries and Saudi Arabia met in New York on Sept. 21 on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
In a joint statement, the ministers stressed the importance of maintaining regular consultations and coordination among the four countries to promote peace, security, stability and prosperity across the Middle East and the broader region.
"Expressing deep concern over continued tension and hostilities in the region, the Ministers underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path to a sustainable resolution, and in this context underscored the need to uphold the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding for lasting peace and stability," the statement said.
The ministers also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's right to protect its territory and population in line with international law and the UN Charter.
"They further affirmed the Kingdom’s inherent right to defend itself, its territory, and its people, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations."
The officials additionally emphasized the need to safeguard maritime navigation and ensure the safety and freedom of movement at sea.
