Bay Area Fall Exhibitions Feature Dread Scott, Azzedine Alaïa

(MENAFN- USA Art News) The Bay Area fall art season will feature several significant exhibitions, including a Dread Scott survey and an Azzedine Alaïa retrospective, alongside a focus on local artists. The season is anchored by the third annual Nexus: SF / Bay Area Black Art Week.

Among the highlighted shows is“Closer Reading: Three Bay Area Book Artists,” on view at the California College of the Arts Campus Gallery at 1480 17th Street in San Francisco. The exhibition, which runs through October 23, brings together work by Vivian Sming, Macy Chadwick, and Kate Laster. Their pieces explore the intersections of art and print, from publishing to political printmaking, and are supported by the San Francisco Advocacy for the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Additionally, KADIST has partnered with Minnesota Street Project to present“Character Development,” a pop-up show at 1201 Minnesota Street, San Francisco, running through October 31. This marks KADIST's return after its physical gallery space in San Francisco closed last year. The exhibition features six contemporary video artists, including Martine Syms and Alex Da Corte, who examine social issues through film history and experimental installations.
