UN Renews Condemnation of Houthi Cross-Border Attacks on Saudi Arabia
(MENAFN) The UN on Monday reaffirmed its condemnation of ongoing cross-border assaults by Yemen's Houthi forces against Saudi Arabia, including attempted strikes targeting the capital, Riyadh.
"We remain deeply concerned about the ongoing military escalation in and around Yemen, including Houthi offensives in Taiz, Lahij, and Marib, with grave consequences for civilians in Yemen and across the region," UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters.
Dujarric said the cross-border strikes have hit civilian areas and critical energy infrastructure across the kingdom, calling on all sides to "exercise restraint and prevent any further escalation."
The latest wave of Houthi attacks has left civilians wounded in southern Saudi Arabia, while renewed fighting inside Yemen has disrupted shipping lanes and forced fresh waves of civilian displacement.
