Iran's FM Lands in New York for UN Summit, Pezeshkian to Follow
(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi touched down in New York on Monday to take part in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, local media outlets reported.
Leading a senior delegation, Araghchi was greeted at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Gholamhossein Darzi, Iran's permanent representative and chargé d'affaires to the UN, according to Iran's state news agency.
En route to New York, the foreign minister made a brief layover in Doha, where he sat down with Qatari officials to review the latest regional developments.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is due to follow him to New York on Tuesday, when he is set to attend and address the General Assembly session. Officials say Pezeshkian will also hold a series of sideline meetings and consultations with world leaders during the summit.
