Turkish Stocks Extend Losses as BIST 100 Slides Further Thursday
(MENAFN) Türkiye's benchmark stock index extended its slide on Thursday, opening at 12,948.83 points — a drop of 1.32%, or 173.74 points — as selling pressure continued to weigh on the market.
The declines follow a steep sell-off on Wednesday, when the BIST 100 tumbled 5.54% to close at 13,122.58 points on heavy trading, with daily transaction volume reaching 262.4 billion Turkish liras ($5.39 billion).
In currency markets, the Turkish lira stood at 48.6750 against the US dollar, 56.0120 against the euro, and 65.3505 against the British pound as of 9:50 a.m. local time (0650GMT).
Elsewhere, gold traded at $4,307.65 an ounce, while Brent crude futures changed hands at $104.15 per barrel.
