Unreleased Princess Diana Memoir Copies Was Stolen in Netherlands
(MENAFN) Four copies of Earl Spencer’s upcoming memoir about his sister, Diana, Princess of Wales, have been stolen from a truck in the Netherlands shortly before the book’s international release, according to reports Wednesday.
The stolen books were Dutch-language copies of “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” which were being moved from a printing facility to the warehouse of the Dutch publisher.
According to a source familiar with the incident, the truck driver had parked in a designated area to take a required rest break and was asleep inside the vehicle when the books disappeared.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact location of the theft. Dutch police have been informed and are investigating the incident.
Reports said the theft took place earlier this week in a rural area of the Netherlands.
The vehicle was carrying thousands of copies of the book, but only four were reportedly taken. It remains unclear whether the thieves specifically targeted the unreleased memoir or simply removed the books without knowing their contents.
The British publisher Penguin Michael Joseph, which belongs to Penguin Random House, and Dutch publisher Overamstel were contacted for comment.
