US, Ukraine Work to Arrange Trump Zelenskyy Meeting

(MENAFN) US and Ukrainian officials are working on plans for a possible meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the high-level week of the UN General Assembly later this month, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry.

“I can say that teams are indeed currently working on the possibility of such a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the US, its agenda, and, crucially, making it as substantive as possible,” Heorhii Tykhyi told a press briefing.

Tykhyi said Zelenskyy is expected to hold a series of bilateral discussions while the Ukrainian delegation travels to New York for the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

He confirmed that the Ukrainian president’s trip will include meetings and contacts involving the United States. These could also involve members of Congress, representatives of the American business community and Ukrainians living in the US.

“So, naturally, the agenda is much broader.”

The UN General Assembly’s 81st session opened in New York on Tuesday. Its high-level week is scheduled to begin Friday and continue through Sept. 28.
