Operation Vivaldi Aims To Secure Stronger Defensive Positions, Ukrainian Commander Says
“Our main strategic task for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the defense of the Donetsk and Luhansk axes, the defense of Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” Biletskyi said.
According to him, Ukrainian forces are not seeking to capture as much territory as possible.
“We are not fighting there simply for the sake of dozens or hundreds, or sometimes thousands, of square kilometers. We are fighting, first and foremost, for favorable defensive positions,” the Corps Commander noted.
Biletskyi added that Operation Vivaldi is intended to move Ukrainian forces to precisely such positions.
