Putin Urges Russians to Vote as Election Approaches

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday called on citizens to take part in the upcoming legislative election, saying participation would demonstrate national unity and contribute to Russia’s efforts amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

In a video address delivered ahead of the State Duma vote, Putin described the election campaign as “significant and largely decisive” as Russia continues its war in Ukraine.

He expressed confidence that Russian military personnel would participate actively in the election and said voting would also take place for the first time in areas of Ukraine under Russian control.

“Your choice and your will shall once again demonstrate that millions of people stand behind our troops, that we are a cohesive people united by shared values, historical memory, and love for our Motherland, and that no one will succeed in dividing or intimidating us, or in undermining our statehood and our socio-political system,” he said.

Putin encouraged Russians to cast their ballots, portraying participation as their “collective response to those who seek to weaken Russia, hold back its development, and deprive us of our sovereignty and the right to determine our own destiny.”

He added, “Participating in the elections is our shared contribution to Russia’s victory!”
