US Accuses Five of Joining Alleged Russian Intelligence Plots
(MENAFN) US authorities have brought charges against five individuals accused of working with Russian intelligence services in alleged plans to monitor and assassinate Russian dissidents, as well as carry out attacks in the United States and Europe, according to an indictment.
“These defendants allegedly operated as part of a global assassination network that reached into the United States,” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Eisenberg said in a statement Tuesday.
The defendants include Russian nationals Yuri Khrameev, 63, and his 27-year-old son Kirill Khrameev, along with Cuban nationals Oemis Romagoza Durruthy and Yaidel Delgado Suarez, both 35, and Venezuelan national Angel Eduardo Castro, 22.
All five face charges of conspiring to finance terrorism. The elder Khrameev, Suarez and Castro also face allegations of conspiring to commit murder for hire.
The defendants have not been arrested and remain at large, according to US authorities.
The indictment alleges that the group, referred to by prosecutors as the Russian Intelligence Services Network, has been active since at least 2024. Its alleged activities focused on Russian dissidents and defectors living in the United States and Europe.
