According to US media, the meeting will center on US proposals for a postwar strategy, as the Trump administration develops a broader "day-after" plan that officials expect to finalize only after the US midterm elections in November.
Leaders or foreign ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council nations — Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman — are expected to take part, the report said.
The gathering could grow to include additional Arab and Muslim leaders, media added.
The State Department issued initial invitations Wednesday, according to the report.
Separately, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking his own meeting with Trump in New York, though no such sitdown has been scheduled yet, mediareported.
