House Approves Graham-Named Russia Sanctions Bill, Sends It to Trump
(MENAFN) The US House of Representatives passed a Russia sanctions bill Wednesday honoring the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, clearing the measure for President Donald Trump's signature.
Lawmakers voted 262-159 to approve the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, sending it to the White House after the Senate passed it last month in an 86-11 vote with strong bipartisan backing.
The act authorizes primary and secondary sanctions against Russia and entities supporting its war in Ukraine, targeting Russian officials, oligarchs and their family members, foreign nationals, and Russian banks and financial institutions.
The legislation also grants the president authority to impose targeted tariffs on imports from countries that purchase the bulk of Russian oil or gas and that help Russia evade existing sanctions.
