EOW Searches Cooperative Society Manager's House In Balaghat
A team led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police reached the residence of Vilas Chaure in the Neemtola area of Lanji early in the morning and began examining documents and records related to his assets and income.
The search was underway, and the agency had not yet disclosed details of the case or the assets found during the operation.
Chaure is the in-charge manager of the Maneri Service Cooperative Society in Lanji. According to information, his family is also reportedly involved in the business of selling agricultural machinery.
Three buses are also being operated under the name 'Matoshree' on the Balaghat-Hyderabad route, according to information available during the search.
The EOW team is examining documents and other records to determine the extent of Chaure's assets and whether they are disproportionate to his known sources of income, said an official.
The agency is expected to release details after the search and scrutiny of records are completed.
The action comes nearly a fortnight after the EOW conducted searches at multiple premises linked to K K Singare, an executive engineer in charge of the Public Works Department (Buildings) in Balaghat, in another disproportionate assets case.
On September 3, simultaneous searches were conducted at Singare's premises in Balaghat, Chhindwara and Bhopal. Around Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, a Scorpio vehicle and documents were reportedly recovered from his Balaghat residence.
The agency also examined properties, bank accounts and lockers linked to him in Chhindwara. The investigation had indicated that Singare possessed assets worth more than Rs 11 crore, allegedly 378 per cent higher than his known sources of income.
