War Update: 278 Clashes On Front Line Over Past Day, Most Attacks In Pokrovsk And Kostiantynivka Sectors

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrinform reports this, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a Facebook update on the situation as of 8:00 on Thursday, September 17.

The enemy launched 106 air strikes, dropping 356 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 7,106 kamikaze drones and carried out 2,366 shelling attacks, 33 of them using multiple-launch rocket systems.

In the Sumy region, the following settlements came under artillery fire: Sadky, Tovstodubove, Korenok, Kucherivka, Bezsalivka, Neskuchne, Pavlivka, Ivolzhanske, Rozhkovychi, Potapivka, Bachivsk, Mala Slobidka, Hirky, Ryzhivka, Pysarivka, Mariine, and Mykhalchyna Sloboda. In the Chernihiv region, Russian forces shelled Lohy.

Air strikes hit the areas around Chuikivka, Sumy, Pustohorod and Kucherivka in the Sumy region.

Ukrainian Defense Forces aviation, missile forces and artillery struck six clusters of Russian personnel, seven command posts and UAV launch sites, as well as three artillery systems and artillery positions.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Russian forces launched three assault operations.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian units repelled 17 attacks toward Kozacha Lopan, Ternova, Rubizhne, Mala Vovcha, and Radkivka, as well as near Lyman, Vilcha and Starytsia.

In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces attacked once near Kivsharivka.

In the Lyman sector, Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled six Russian attacks toward Shyikivka and Lyman as well as near Novoiehorivka and Novoselivka.

In the Sloviansk sector, the enemy launched three assault operations near Kryva Luka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces attacked twice near Yurkivka and Fedorivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, 29 enemy attacks were recorded. Russian forces conducted assault operations near Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, Dovha Balka, Rozkishne, and Toretske, as well as toward Mykolaipillia, Pavlivka, Novohryhorivka, Kucheriv Yar, and Vilne.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukraine's Defense Forces stopped 31 Russian attacks near Kucheriv Yar, Vilne, Nove Shakhove, Toretske, Hannivka, Novyi Donbas, Dorozhnie, Dobropillia, Pokrovsk, Serhiivka, Udachne, and Molodetske.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces launched three attacks toward Berezove and near Rybne.

In the Huliaipole sector, the enemy made three attempts to advance toward Vozdvyzhivka and Novoselivka as well as near Dobropillia.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukraine's Defense Forces stopped one Russian attempt to advance toward Prymorske.

In the Dnipro River sector, Russian forces conducted no assault operations.

No signs of Russian offensive force buildup were detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.

As reported by Ukrinform, total combat losses of Russian forces since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to September 17, 2026, stand at approximately 1,513,490 personnel.
