Diesel Prices Up 54% Since End Of February Expert

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Serhii Kuiun, director of the A-95 consulting company, provided these calculations in a comment to Ukrinform.

The expert used the following prices as of February 28, 2026, as the starting point: A-95 gasoline – UAH 63.13 per liter; diesel – UAH 62.96 per liter; autogas – UAH 38.47 per liter. As of September 15, average prices at filling stations were UAH 86.17 per liter for A-95 gasoline, UAH 97.06 per liter for diesel fuel, and UAH 43.66 per liter for autogas.

When asked whether Russian attacks have affected prices at filling stations, Kuiun said. "No, they have not. Margins on gasoline and diesel fuel this year are even lower than in 2024-2025."

The expert also commented on changes in global oil and fuel supplies following the outbreak of the war in Iran. In 2025, an average of about 20 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum products a day passed through the Strait of Hormuz. This accounted for 25% of global seaborne oil trade.

At present, oil and petroleum product shipments through this route have fallen by half.

According to Kuiun, Russia, for its part, exported about 9 million barrels of oil a day and 0.8 million barrels of diesel fuel. Diesel exports have now been halted, while oil exports are estimated at 6.5 million barrels a day.

As reported, oil prices rose by more than 3% on September 14 after new Houthi strikes on Saudi Arabia and Iranian attacks on vessels in the Persian Gulf heightened supply concerns caused by the shutdown of a key Saudi oil pipeline.
