Ukrainian Air Defenses Down Seven Banderol Missiles, 124 Drones In Overnight Russian Attack
Starting at 18:00 on Wednesday, September 16, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with Oniks anti-ship missiles launched from Kursk Region, Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles launched from Bryansk and Voronezh regions, four sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea, 10 Banderol/Dan-T missiles from the airspace over the Sea of Azov, and 157 Shahed-type attack UAVs (more than half of them jet-powered) as well as Parodiya decoy drones launched from the directions of Oryol and Millerovo in Russia, temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.
The main targets of the attack were the Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.
The aerial attack was repelled by Ukrainian Defense Forces aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups.
According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 on Thursday, September 17, air defense forces had shot down or suppressed 131 targets: seven Banderol/Dan-T missiles and 124 drones.
Hits by missiles and attack UAVs were recorded at 36 locations, while debris from downed targets fell at five locations.
The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in Ukrainian airspace.
