Temperatures To Dip Further Friday, Rain Possible In Northern Areas

Amman, Sep. 17 (Petra) -- Temperatures will settle around seasonal averages on Thursday before dipping further on Friday, when parts of northern Jordan could see morning rain showers amid generally moderate conditions across most of the country.

The Jordan Meteorological Department said temperatures will decline slightly on Thursday, bringing moderate weather to most regions, while the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba remain hot. High-altitude clouds are expected, with moderate northwesterly winds becoming active at times.

A further decline is forecast on Friday, accompanied by increased cloud cover, particularly across northern and central regions. There is a chance of morning rain showers over limited parts of the north.

Westerly winds will become active at intervals on Friday and may raise dust, particularly across the Badia. The Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will continue to experience hot conditions despite the cooler weather elsewhere.

The moderate pattern will hold on Saturday, with low clouds expected in some areas and hot weather continuing in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Temperatures will edge higher on Sunday, but the increase is not expected to significantly change conditions, with moderate weather remaining across most regions and hotter conditions persisting in the low-lying areas.

Thursday's highs are forecast at 33 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 31 C in West Amman, with temperatures reaching 29 C in the northern highlands, 31 C in the Sharah highlands and 32 C across the plains.

Higher readings are expected in the Badia and low-lying regions, reaching 37 C in the Badia, 39 C in the northern Jordan Valley and at the Dead Sea, and 40 C in the southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba.
