Russia Awards Commander Of Ship That Fired Flares At Danish Air Force Helicopter
The commander of the Smetlivy corvette was awarded“for competent and decisive actions in preventing a provocation by a Danish Air Force helicopter in the Baltic Sea,” the ministry said.

“In order to prevent a provocation by the Danish aircraft, the corvette commander decided to fire two red signal flares, after which the helicopter left the area where the Russian warship was located,” the Russian Defense Ministry claimed.
On September 15, the Danish Armed Forces reported that a Russian warship had fired two signal flares toward a Danish military helicopter in the Baltic Sea, one of which flew close to the helicopter.
The Danish Foreign Ministry called the incident“completely unacceptable” and summoned Russian Ambassador Vladimir Barbin.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Denmark has said that Russia is preparing acts of sabotage against the country's defense industry.
