After starting a career in science communication, Dr Hannah Little returned to academia to pursue her love for language as a PhD student in the field of evolutionary linguistics at the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, and went on to a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in the Netherlands. Since then, she has worked in the Science Communication Unit at UWE Bristol where she was a Senior Lecturer in Science Communication and also a Data Fellow at the South West Creative Technology Network. She now works at The University of Liverpool as a Lecturer in the Department of Communication and Media. She is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Board member for Open Rights Group and the International Association of Cognitive Semiotics.

Dr Hannah Little is also an expert in risk communication and has worked with volcanologists in the Canary Islands on science communication practice. She has been a lecturer in science communication for 7 years and has ongoing projects funded by the British Academy and the Royal Society analysing the use of storytelling for science communication, and how language-use affects how audiences understand risk.
