Al Jazeera Documentary Calls For Arab Film Projects

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Al Jazeera Documentary has announced a special call for Arab documentary projects in post-production or already completed, as part of an initiative to identify strong regional films and help bring them to a wider audience.

The call offers three possible routes of support: full production, co-production and acquisition. Applicants are expected to select the route that best reflects their project's stage and the type of backing they seek from the network.

Applications will be accepted exclusively through the network's online proposal portal from September 22-29. The submission window will close at midnight Doha time on the final day, and each production entity may put forward only one project during the call.

Eligible submissions may include a rough cut from a documentary still undergoing post-production or a link to a finished film. The initiative is therefore open to both filmmakers seeking assistance to complete a project and producers presenting a documentary ready for consideration. Applicants must submit a synopsis, a project summary and a treatment, together with the documentary's expected running time and number of episodes. They must also identify their preferred support track and provide a viewing link to either the rough cut or the completed film.

Projects seeking co-production support must additionally include a financing plan and information about the partners already involved. These details are intended to give the network a clear picture of the project's financial structure, existing commitments and readiness to move forward.

Al Jazeera Documentary said it would prioritise the most advanced and complete proposals. Producers are therefore encouraged to ensure that their materials clearly present the film's editorial vision, production status and the support required.
